The First Time I Went Snorkeling in Tsitsikamma

Tsitsikamma is one of my absolute favourite places in South Africa.

A friend and I were on an “adventure” road trip. One of our stops was at the Tsitsikamma National Park.  We stayed in a beautiful log cabin with amazing sea views. We arrived late in the evening, so we just unpacked and then headed to the restaurant in the park for supper.

The next morning we hired gear from Untouched Adventures – a wetsuit, mask, and flippers and went snorkeling. This was my first time snorkeling in the park and it was absolutely amazing. I think I could have stayed there the whole day if there weren’t so many other activities that we also wanted to do.

At one stage while snorkeling a woman swam up to me – it was very weird the way she approached me and she looked at me strangely. When she got right next to me she said: “O, I thought you were an alien with the snorkel and mask on your head.” Hahaha.

After a fun morning of snorkeling, we went hiking. This is an amazing hike.

Just look at these views…

Of course, I also pretended to be Jane (Tarzan) of the Jungle while we were hiking.

We hiked to the suspension bridge and then after our hike, we went on a boat trip and even entered a cave filled with bats.

Tsitsikamma is a place that I will return to again and again. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip for me.
